Safety and Security

Waconia Public Schools is committed to providing safe and welcoming schools for all of our students, staff, families and visitors. In Waconia, school safety is a multi-faceted undertaking that involves building design, technology, drills, timely communication, building relationships with local law enforcement, and continuously reviewing and improving our procedures and protocols.

Beginning with the 2023-24 school year, Waconia Public Schools started using new language to communicate incidents and will now use the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) developed by the I Love U Guys Foundation. This protocol is used in more than 30,000 schools, districts, departments, agencies, organizations, and communities around the world. The SRP is based on five actions and each action is followed by a directive. The outcome is shared language and shared expectations between people in a crisis. The SRP is not a replacement for a school safety plan or program. It is simply a classroom response enhancement for critical incidents, designed to provide consistent, clear, shared language and actions among all students, staff, and first responders.

More information about the Standard Response Protocol can be accessed below.

Bring Your Own Device

Student Device Information for Grades 5-12:

Every 5th grade through 12th grade student in Waconia Public Schools is required to bring a technology device to class.

We have two options for families to choose from to ensure their student is prepared to learn at school at the onset of the 2025-26 school year.

Option 1: Student uses a device they own

Families can purchase a device or use a device the family already owns. If you choose this option, these documents will help your child be prepared on the first day of school:

  1. District 110 Device Requirements

    • This document outlines the necessary specifications and guidelines for the devices that students can use in the district.

  2. Quick Start Guide for Chromebooks

    • This guide provides step-by-step instructions for setting up a Chromebook, ensuring it connects seamlessly on the first day of school.

Option 2:  Student can be issued a District owned device (zero to $50/yr cost)

  • Students can be issued a Chromebook from our current inventory. Optional device insurance can be purchased for $50 per year.

  • If you would like to be issued a District-owned device, please fill out this form: District 110 Chromebook Request and Agreement

High School Parking Permits

Parking permits must be purchased and displayed in student vehicles by September 5, 2025. After this time, students parking without a permit will be fined.

As sophomores turn 16 and begin driving to school, they will be required to register their vehicle(s) and purchase a parking permit.

Registration: All students who park on school property must purchase a parking permit, and complete the vehicle registration link:
