WINTER WEATHER REMINDERS
In alignment with past practices, if inclement weather forces District leaders to cancel in-person instruction during the 2023-24 school year, the first two instances would result in no-school days for students. Any subsequent weather-related closures would result in the District implementing a flex-learning day. Students in grades 5-12 would use their devices to access learning plans on Schoology. Families with students in grades K-4 would receive learning plans via email from teachers that morning.
In all cases of cancellations, late starts, and early dismissals, notification will be sent directly to families through Infinite Campus by phone, email, and text message. Information will also be posted on the district website and the district's social media channels. Click here for full information.
LAKETOWN ELEMENTARY RECEIVES PBIS SUSTAINING EXEMPLAR RECOGNITION
Laketown Elementary School has once again received the Sustaining Exemplar recognition for its work through the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework. This is the fifth time in the last six years that the school has received the honor. Laketown is one of 87 schools representing 31 school districts across the State of Minnesota to earn the recognition for the 2022-23 school year. The school will be recognized at the Minnesota PBIS Virtual Summer Institute on June 14-15.
“I am very proud of our staff for their hard work and dedication to PBIS and the positive impact it has on our students and the overall culture at Laketown,” Principal Keith Baune said.
PBIS is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. When implemented with fidelity, PBIS improves social emotional competence, academic success, and school climate. It also improves teacher health and wellbeing. It is a way to create positive, predictable, equitable and safe learning environments where everyone thrives.
