Open Enrollment Application for K-12 and Early Childhood Special Education

Kindergarten through Grade 5

Waconia Public Schools has three elementary schools that serve students in grades K-5.  The district works to maintain similar class sizes at all three buildings: Laketown Elementary; Southview Elementary; Bayview Elementary. Students receive building assignments based on their residential address.

Tentative Building Assignments for New Students in Kindergarten through Grade 5

Open enrolled students will receive their approved application with a building assignment based on their residential address. These assignments are tentative and may change as the school year approaches and enrollment numbers become finalized. Depending on how many students are in each grade level in each building, the district may need to balance class sizes. If this is the case, families will be notified in August if their building assignment will change for the upcoming school year.

Change of Elementary Building Assignment

A student’s elementary building assignment could change prior to the start of any year in a student’s K-5 years. Depending on how many students are in each grade level in each building, the district may need to balance class sizes. If this is the case, families will be notified in August if their building assignment will change for the upcoming school year.

Transportation

The district does not provide transportation for nonresident students. Families may contact the bus company to inquire if there is an in-district stop nearby.
