Kindergarten is an exciting and important time in a student's life, as they will develop and grow many academic, social, and emotional skills that will lay the foundation for their K-12 journey.
Everything we do at Waconia Public Schools, ISD 110, is focused on creating opportunities for students to explore their passions and create their success. With dedicated teachers, supportive parents, and a community that values quality education, we are able to provide authentic learning experiences for all students. Let's go Wildcats!!!!

LAKETOWN ELEMENTARY RECEIVES PBIS RECOGNITION
For the sixth consecutive year, Laketown Elementary School has received the Sustaining Exemplar recognition for its work through the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework. Laketown is one of only 25 schools in the Twin Cities Metro Area to earn the recognition for the 2025-2026 school year.
“This recognition reflects the commitment of our staff, students, and families to creating a positive and supportive school community,” Laketown Principal Keith Baune said. “For six years in a row, our team has remained dedicated to ensuring every student feels welcomed, respected, and heard each day. I am incredibly proud of the culture we have built together at Laketown and grateful for the continued partnership of our entire learning community as we continue to ensure every child matters and every moment counts.”
FOUR CANDIDATES FILE FOR FOUR SCHOOL BOARD SEATS
Four candidates will appear on the November general election ballot for four open school board seats. Those candidates are the four current board members: Kelly Amott, Jesse Bergstrom, Melanie Hagen, and Kim Kelzer-Breeden.
Because there are four candidates for four available seats, the previously announced School Board Candidate Forum co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Eastern Carver County and Waconia Community Education, scheduled for September 16 has been canceled.
WEA NAMES 2026-27 ACCOMPLISHED WACONIA EDUCATORS
The Waconia Education Association has announced that Nick Hansberry, Ali Weber, and Corey Wedge are the 2026-27 recipients of the Accomplished Waconia Educators Award. The three recipients will now go on to represent Waconia Public Schools in the 2026-27 Minnesota Teacher of Year program next Fall.
Chosen annually by the WEA, the Accomplished Waconia Educator Award recognizes educators who represent excellence in education and who motivate and inspire students for a lifetime. ISD 110 parents, students, and staff are invited each year to nominate educators they feel embody these qualities and make a lasting impact on the Waconia school community.
