District 110 Community Education offers Behind the Wheel Training to participants who have successfully completed classroom training sessions and have been issued a permit. This state requirement is an opportunity for students to receive an additional 6 hours of driving experience with a certified driving instructor.

To register for Behind the Wheel Training, you must register online.* Once you have registered for this class (and it has been verified that you have completed the 30 hours of classroom) you will get an email from the Department of Public Safety (also known as an eBlue card). This email is required in order to take your permit test. The state requires that you are registered in an approved Behind the Wheel program prior to taking your permit test. You need to allow 4 business days once you have registered for Behind the Wheel for the email from the Department of Public Safety to be generated.  This email confirmation is needed in order to take your permit test. Please do not arrive at the DMV without your email. We can not accommodate same day requests.

If you completed your 30 hours of classroom at Waconia High School we can verify you have completed this. If you took your 30 hours of classroom with a private company, you will need to provide your completion letter during the registration process.

*The cost is $348. If you need a payment plan (must pay $174 at registration) you do need to come into the office.

The student's name is then entered into a database. The date of their 16th birthday, along with the date of registration, will determine their priority on the waiting list. We encourage students to register early. Do not schedule your driver's test before you start your 6 hours of Behind the Wheel. If you are participating in an after-school activity, please be aware that this limits your scheduling availability with the Behind the Wheel instructors.

This email confirmation is needed in order to take your permit test. Please do not arrive at the DMV without your email. We can not accommodate same day requests.

Please Note: You must have your permit a minimum of 6 months prior to taking your driver's license test.
