Congratulations to the Waconia High School Boys Golf Team and head coach Don Skerik for winning the Section 2AAA Tournament on Wednesday, May 29, and earning a spot in the Class 3A State Tournament!

After building a 15-stroke lead after day one of the tournament on Tuesday, the Wildcats played just well enough on day two to squeak out a one-shot victory over Chanhassen today at Ridges of Sand Creek Golf Course in Jordan. Freshman Karsen Herman finished the two-day tournament in second place with an even par score of 144. Three other Wildcats cracked the top 10 of the individual standings, including 7th grader Ryder Haskins and juniors Riley Baisch and Jadan Ford. Haskins placed 7th with a +4 total of 148. Baisch and Ford tied for ninth place with +5 totals of 149.

Junior Evan Marsden placed 25th (+14, 158) and senior Gavin Schneider placed 33rd (+17, 161). The Class 3A State Tournament will take place June 11-12 at Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids.
