Waconia High School senior Evie Tellers is the recipient of the school’s 2025 Athena Award. Sponsored by the Minneapolis Athena Awards Committee, the Athena Award is a unique recognition program designed exclusively for female high school seniors. Selection of the outstanding female athlete from each school is based on excellence in individual sports or for participation and accomplishments in team sports. Students who excel in athletic activities, who show leadership qualities, and who are model citizens are eligible for the award.
Tellers is a three-sport athlete (tennis, gymnastics and lacrosse) who is also active in the school’s weightlifting program. She has earned a total of 12 varsity letters, has been a team captain six times, and has earned a multitude of most valuable player and all-conference awards in all three sports.
Outside of varsity athletics, Tellers is an officer for both National Honor Society and the WHS Conservation Club, is President of the school’s DECA chapter, and is also a member of the Student Council.
Tellers will attend the University of St. Thomas next fall and plans to major in Emerging Media/Mass Communications and minor in Leadership and Management.
Tellers and 53 other Athena Award winners will be recognized at the Minneapolis Athena Awards Banquet on Friday, May 2 at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center.
