Thank you for your interest in National Honor Society! We intend for the 2021-2022 NHS application and membership to return to ‘normal’ this year - we hope this holds true. If you are interested in applying to NHS, please check out the resources below and be sure that you are completing the application for this academic year (2021-2022). If any academic and/or activity changes are made due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there may also be changes to this application. Here is a digital version of the 2021-2022 NHS Application. Applications are due to the NHS Advisers - Mrs. Von Glan or Ms. Niemczyk - by April 1, 2022. These can be submitted either on paper or in a digital format. Hard copies of the application form can be obtained by seeing one of the advisers. Mrs. Von Glan (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Ms. Niemczyk (email@example.com) are happy to answer any other questions you may have. Thank you again for your interest in our organization!
National Honor Society (NHS) is an honorary organization that recognizes student academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, and community service.
Membership in this organization is an immediate flag for potential employers, colleges, and scholarship committees that the faculty of your high school recognized you as an outstanding member of the school community. It is a prestigious award and highly recognized.
Applying to NHS is open to sophomores and juniors who possess the following qualities: a cumulative grade point average of 3.55 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher; show evidence of satisfactory participation in multiple athletic and academic activities at Waconia High School; perform a minimum of 40 and up to 80 additional hours of community service; and one’s character must be held in high esteem.
Applications for membership to the Waconia High School National Honor Society Chapter are due to the NHS Advisers Nelia Von Glan (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Katie Niemczyk (kNiemczyk@isd110.org) on or before April 1, 2022. Applications will then be reviewed and voted on by the NHS Selection Committee and students will be notified in writing of their acceptance status. An induction ceremony will be held in the spring to recognize all new and returning NHS members.
