Erik Olson Named Head Baseball Coach

It is our pleasure to announce that Coach Erik Olson has been selected as the new Waconia High School Head Baseball Coach. We are extremely excited to have hired an individual with Coach Olson’s experience,  demonstrated leadership skills and passion to work with our student athletes and lead our Wildcat Baseball program!

Erik grew up in De Pere, Wisconsin where he graduated from West De Pere High School where he played baseball, hockey, and football.  A member of 4 state championship teams in baseball and hockey, he went on to play baseball at the University of St. Thomas.  During his four years, he was an all-conference pitcher and a member of the 2009 National Championship team.

After graduating from college Erik began teaching Spanish at Chaska and Chanhassen high schools before coming to Waconia High School in 2011.  He has been an assistant varsity baseball coach for the past 12 seasons at Rosemount High School, Chaska High School, and most recently at Waconia High School.  In addition, he has been the legion baseball coach since 2016 for the Waconia Post 150 Lions.  Erik has also coached football for the Wildcats since 2016.

Erik lives in Waconia with his wife Mary and their three children Theodore (7), Louis (4), and Margaret (2). Erik is excited to continue the rich tradition of a strong baseball program here in Waconia and be a part of the transition to a new conference as well as the jump up to AAAA baseball.  Congratulations Coach Olson on your selection as the Waconia Wildcat Head Baseball Coach!

Coach Olson has scheduled a meet and greet for anyone interested in joining the high school baseball program for Monday evening, January 10th at 8pm in the WHS group space, C107. We look forward to seeing our Wildcat Baseball players there!
