Summer 2025 Projects

There will be a number of construction projects taking place at District sites during the summer months. Below is a high level summary of those projects including any potential impacts to the public:

  • An indoor air quality (IAQ) project will take place at Waconia High School from approximately May 26 through August 15. This project mostly involves replacing outdated HVAC equipment to provide improved ventilation and air conditioning inside the building. It is expected that this project will be completed before students and staff arrive for the beginning of the 2025-26 school year. Due to this project, the Waconia Wildcats Speed & Strength Summer Program will be moved to Waconia Middle School.
  • The IAQ project at the High School also involves construction work at the adjacent Safari Island Community Center. The school district and City of Waconia are working together to minimize disruptions to Safari Island programming.
  • A separate IAQ project will also take place at the District Office and Early Childhood Enrichment Center from June 9 through August 15. While the District Office will remain open during this time, several departments and staff members will be relocated during the project including Education Services, Human Resources, Nutrition Services, Technology and Special Education Services. In addition, Early Childhood Kids Company and summer preschool programs will take place at Laketown Elementary.
  • Work will take place on the Laketown Elementary and Middle School parking lots between June 9 and August 1. Both buildings will continue to be accessible during this timeframe.
