Waconia will send five individual wrestlers to the Xcel Energy Center and the Class 3A State Boys Wrestling Tournament next weekend.
Congratulations to seniors Cooper Jahnke and Carter Katherman, juniors Ian Olson and Sawyer Nemitz, and eighth grader Will Katherman for punching their ticket to state at today's Section 6AAA Individual Tournament at Minnetonka High School.
Jahnke, Carter Katherman and Olson won the section title in their respective weight classes, while Will Katherman and Sawyer Nemitz both advanced by placing second in their weight classes.
The Wildcats had six other individuals place third in their weight class including Beckett Marsh at 121 pounds, Gabe Witschorik at 145 pounds, Blake Miller at 152 pounds, Cooper Koosmann at 160 pounds, Mason Reiner at a 172 pounds, and Nehemiah Ombati at 285 pounds.
The Individual State Wrestling Tournament will take place on February 28 and March 1 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
