ISD 110 has adopted the new CDC 5 Day Quarantine Guidelines

Staff and students who are currently in isolation or quarantine can use the guidelines described below to determine their return date.  Please make sure to follow the expectations stated for an earlier return date.

Isolation Guidelines Revised, Tuesday, January 11, 2022

Note: Isolation refers to persons who have tested positive and/or have COVID-19 symptoms

Individuals who have tested positive must stay home for at least 5 days from symptom onset, or if they are asymptomatic, at least 5 days from testing date.  In addition, they should isolate themselves from others and wear a well-fitting mask.  Individuals who have tested positive may return after 5 days (return between days 6 - 10) if they follow these expectations:

  • Follow the list of expectations in CDC isolation guidelines
  • Wear a well-fitting mask when around others until day 10
  • Avoid immunocompromised people
  • Fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication
  • Other symptoms have improved
  • Well enough to participate in school activities
  • Proper mask wearing at all times except when eating or drinking is especially important when returning to school and school activities during this shortened quarantine.
  • Individuals with symptoms should continue to isolate for the full 10 days.

Quarantine Guidelines Revised, Tuesday, January 11, 2022

Note: Quarantine refers to persons who are Unvaccinated Student/Staff member who have a household member that tested positive for COVID-19 or for those that choose to quarantine due to close contact. Those needed to quarantine are described at the CDC Quarantine Guidelines.

Unvaccinated students/staff members can begin their quarantine period the day after the last day of contact with the person with COVID-19.

  • If the student/staff can separate from the household member they should do so.  Quarantine can begin the day after separation
  • If the student/staff cannot separate from the positive household contact their quarantine cannot begin until the isolation period (5 - 10 days) for the positive person is complete

MDH strongly recommends testing immediately of all household members.  If negative, testing again 5 days after last exposure is recommended.

5-10 day Quarantine  CDC Guidelines
